Drupalist/Web Producer Eager to Learn Drupal
Spin magazine seeks eager web production whiz looking to manage production processes and develop new modules for its website. Candidates should be detail-oriented and highly communicative, with the ability to work independently, think critically and solve problems; possess some project managment skills, dealing with bug reporting and workflows; have outstanding verbal communication skills; be self-motivated; crave attention to detail; have a passion for web design; and maintain a desire to keep learning and produce great work.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with web product and magazine editorial teams to implement and configure drupal modules and special site features
- Understand and accurately build new drupal modules in 5.+ or better
- Administer and configure drupal-based content site.
- Assist in daily web production process via content production and imaging
- Help maintain brand identity via typography, color, and layout
Requirements:
- Familiarity with user-interface and information architecture principles and how to design Web sites with complex information or functionality.
- Have strong typographic, color, and layout skills, and a deep understanding of how these basic design principles are applied to the web
- Strong PhP and My SQL skills
- Strong tableless web page design skills using CSS and HTML
- Be well-versed in Photoshop, Illustrator, and HTML/CSS
- Experience using DHTML, XHTML, JavaScript and XML strongly preferred
- Be experienced in UX/UI Design, Information Architecture and Usability
- Experience using AJAX and Flash preferred but not required
- Experience working on consumer facing content and community sites
- Strong interest in web technologies, platforms, trends, and standards
- Have a BA in Computer Science (or equivalent), at least 2-3 years experience, and an online portfolio

EDITORIAL INTERNS, SPIN MAGAZINE
BASIC INFORMATION:
SPIN magazine is seeking interns with strong backgrounds in writing and a serious interest in music and youth culture for editorial intern positions. Applicants must currently be enrolled in an accredited university in order to be eligible for the internship.
SPIN employs 2-3 interns during its Spring (January to May), Summer (June to August), and Fall (September to December) internship programs. Interns work 16 hours/week (two full days) and may receive college credit (the internship is unpaid). All editorial internships are completed at our New York offices in Manhattan. SPIN does not provide housing or travel assistance.
APPLICATION MATERIALS:
Complete intern applications include a cover letter, resume, and 2-4 clips, preferably of work previously published in newspapers or magazines (or online). Applicants without published clips are encouraged to submit music-related pieces (reviews or news stories) written on their own. All applications must be post-marked by the application deadline. Incomplete applications and/or general employment queries will not be considered. There is no formal application form.

ABOUT THE INTERN PROGRAM:
Interns at SPIN are responsible for transcribing interviews, researching stories, running errands, organizing mail, conducting interviews, and compiling music news for possible use in the magazine. Interns also pitch and write stories for Spin and Spin.com, help maintain a database of past SPIN articles, distribute record release schedules and weekly album sales charts, and assist the editors and editors with various tasks.

ADVERTISING AND MARKETING INTERNS, SPIN MAGAZINE
BASIC INFORMATION:
SPIN is seeking business interns who are passionate about music and have a strong desire to learn about the advertising, marketing and promotions side of the magazine. The internship will offer students a chance to get a firsthand look at the business infrastructure at a major publication.
SPIN employs 4-5 business interns during its Spring (January to May), Summer (June to August), and Fall (September to December) internship programs. Interns work 18 - 25 hours/week and may receive college credit (the internship is unpaid). All business internships are completed at our New York offices in Manhattan. SPIN does not provide housing or travel assistance.

ABOUT THE INTERN PROGRAM:
Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Working closely with Ad Reps and Coordinators to secure advertisements, build relationships and prospect new advertisers. Interns will also aid the marketing department with preparation of events and programs, and will interact with record labels, clubs and other outlets. In addition, interns will get a chance to experience the inner workings of all other business related departments.

SPIN.com is seeking an online marketing intern who is interested in music and has a strong desire to learn about online marketing and promotions. Interns will have the chance to shape the online community at Spin.com by developing relationships with online music blogs, and will work on guerilla marketing efforts. Experience with music blogging or online promotions preferred.

BASIC INFORMATION:
SPIN is seeking photo interns who are interested in music and passionate about photography. The internship will offer an excellent opportunity to experience working in a photo department at a major publication.
SPIN employs 2-3 photo interns during its Spring (January to May), Summer (May/June to August), and Fall (September to December) internship programs. Interns work approximately 16 hours/week (2 full days) and may receive college credit. All interns must live in proximity to New York City.

ABOUT THE INTERN PROGRAM:
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) photo research, communication with publicists to obtain photography, help in producing photo shoots and various administrative task (sending out issues/organizing materials).
