Satellite Party's 'Star' Shines

One could say that Perry Farrell is the ultimate party planner. After all, the former frontman for Jane's Addiction was the mastermind behind the successful Lollapalooza music festival. Now, for his first foray back into music in four years, Farrell has assembled Satellite Party, a star-studded collaboration with former Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, his wife Etty Lau Farrell (backing vocals), and new musicians Kevin Figueiredo (drums) and Carl Restivo (bass). The album's first single, "Wish Upon a Dog Star," combines a hammering beat with dark guitars, and showcases the collective's ability to deftly straddle the line between dance pop and edgy rock. Ultra Payloaded starts the party May 15 via Columbia. BRIANA MOWREY
