I was at Bonnaroo too, and let me tell you, Pearl Jam was definitely the highlight of the festival. Biggest crowd I'd ever been a part of: 70,000 people. When we all sang along, it was just tremendous, the sense of unity and resonance and shared experience. I was with my son, and early in the concert I told him that the best concert I'd ever seen was the Rolling Stones, and that that couldn't be beat--but that this was very good. Later, I told him, "OK, this is the best concert I've ever seen." It just kept getting better and better, until it really powerfully climaxed with "Alive" at the end of the 2nd encore. Fantastic show. And yes, Vedder flubbed a line here and there, but who cares? It was still a really powerful, magnificent show.

Ok, I was at Bonnaroo...Eddie was not drunk, and as a die hard fan that knows and sang EVERY song, I didn't notice what I would consider mistakes...maybe improv that was not straight studio....And what some consider stuttering and incoherence is actually just EV's stage manner....either way, they did play an hour over their time, but it was because the festival coordinators asked them to....Eddie even mentioned it towards midnight...they were killing time...which is why at the end of Pearl Jam's set the announcer STRONGLY reminded everyone to come back for Kanye....that he would still be playing...the festival coordinators knew before PJ took the stage that KW was going to be late....and for that matter if the stage hands were inept and couldn't swing a two hour set up (which is more than most bands get between shows...trust me, this was my third Roo), then Kanye should have brought his own...he is the one that requested that the whole festival be changed to accommodate his Glow In The Dark show...either way, I was thrilled that PJam played an extra hour! I would have watched them for 6 hours more if I could have...bring on the jam....from someone who saw Pjam as the "highlight" of the fest....

Pearl Jam was amazing! They were not the "highlight" of Bonnaroo, other than for their die-hard fans. I was embarrassed for Eddie on stage. I cannot count the number of times he went to his bottle of beer or some other beverage. That would not be a big deal if he did not slip up on several songs, stutter continuously as he criticized the government for the gas prices, as well as missing lyrics in at least 4 songs that I could count. He was at the very least drunk or messed up on something on stage. This is not the performance of a professional.
Add all of that on top of running an hour over their scheduled time, causing the inept stagehands to run 2 hours late setting up Kanye's set. Those of us that were actually at the show know what really happened.

Pearl Jam was amazing!!!! It was the best live performance I have ever seen. They seemed genuinely happy to be there, and to me, they were the highlight of Bonnaroo.

I have a question- have you ever seen PJ in concert before? Are you familiar with their music at all? Most importantly, did you even LISTEN to the man? Based on your comments, I'd guess "no." 1) Of course he criticized the government- you were at a PJ concert. Try listening to their lyrics. 2) Although EV does drink wine during performances, not only was he not drunk/ "messed up on something," he stated the problem. As the man explained, he was a little emotional, due to devastating news regarding 2 of his friends. Yet he still managed to give what reviewers have been calling their best show ever/ the highlight of the weekend. 3) Most concerts do not follow studio recordings note for note. This is the joy of attending a live performance, especially in an atmosphere like Bonnaroo, were the "jam session" is appreciated. This is how the pros do it, however, see #2. 4) From your last statements, one could think that your ignorance is based on a weak attempt to come to Kanye's defense. No need- Kanye has already made it clear that there were many logistical factors- read his blog before you trash others. I tend to believe his personal statement more than a random fan. Yes, I am a "die hard fan," which only makes me a harsher critic of this show compared to others. Not only was I impressed, but the far from "die hard" people I came with were blown away by PJ's performance.
